New Zealand’s Daily-Vaping Estimate Holds Near Its Previous Level
The 2024/25 survey estimated 11.7% among people aged 15 and over; the ministry describes the annual comparison as similar.
New Zealand’s 2024/25 Health Survey estimated daily vaping at 11.7% among people aged 15 and over, compared with 11.1% a year earlier. The Ministry of Health calls the annual rates similar. The longer comparison is different: the estimate was 3.5% in 2019/20.
Interviews ran from July 2024 to July 2025, with 9,253 adult respondents. This is a survey-period estimate, not a current headcount or a result restricted to people aged 18 and over.
The ministry corrected a data-quality issue affecting its previous release during preparation of these results. Comparisons should use its updated figures rather than an older saved table.
The later Health and Independence Report translates the estimate to roughly 509,000 people. It does not identify device purchases, brand preferences or market revenue. Daily use also differs from any use during a month—an essential distinction before comparing surveys.
